Aside from
dental implants,
crowns and bridges, and
dental biomaterials, the other major dental markets consist of computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) production systems, dental imaging equipment, periodontic devices, orthodontic appliances, and endodontic devices. The CAD/CAM production system market comprises complete systems and scanners that are used to design and manufacture tooth restorations, such as crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays in both the dental laboratory and chairside markets. Dental imaging equipment, which includes dental X-ray systems, dental cone beam computed tomography systems, and dental cameras, is required for planning treatment for patients. The periodontic device market comprises manual scalers and curettes, power-driven scalers and tips, locally applied therapeutics, dental anesthetics, dental sutures, and dental hemostats used in various gum treatments. Orthodontic appliances include brackets, anchorage appliances, archwires, ligatures, bonding adhesives, and clear aligners used in the treatment of misaligned teeth. Lastly, endodontic devices consist of endodontic files, permanent sealers, motors and handpieces, and obturation materials and equipment used for the treatment of diseases of the dental pulp and the tissues at the root apex.
